Changes in legislation on scientific experimentation and personal data protection, its increasing coverage of investigative methods, and growing collective awareness of the ethical issues raised by some of our work have led us to propose the creation of an ethics committee within the laboratory. The purpose of this committee is to monitor, inform and advise laboratory members on issues relating to legislation on research involving human subjects and the administrative and practical procedures for applying to the competent authorities for research authorisation.
