Abstract: This research aims to describe the uses of generative AI among a group of MEEF 1er degré students, through the analysis of two types of data: responses to a questionnaire distributed at the INSPÉ of Lorraine and interviews conducted with a sample of the same population. The quantitative analysis based on the questionnaires highlights a lack of knowledge about how generative AI works, which was further explored during the interviews. Our study particularly seeks to understand where students who use generative AI integrate it within the three components of the writing process: “planning / text production / revision” (Hayes & Flower, 1980; Hayes, 2012).
