VESPA : Variation and singularity in speech

Team leader

Présentation

The VEPSA team aims to determine the singularities of speech and voice, based on a particular examination of the forms of variation (acoustic, articulatory, phonetic, phonological, etc.) that can be observed in production and perception, in particular by focusing on a speaker or a specific group of speakers whose particular characteristics we are seeking to identify in relation to the universals that are generally the focus of studies in linguistics.
In this project, we consider variation as a source of decisive information for understanding the mechanisms of spoken communication and no longer as a set of elements likely to interfere with possible modelling of communicational processes.

Axis 1: Linguistically motivated speech variations
Axis 2: Speech variations linked to speaker characteristics
